- Barclays has stopped offering free Kaspersky anti-virus products to new customers following an official warning about Russian security software. The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre has warned Government departments not to use software from Russian companies for systems relating to national security. The bank emailed 290,000 online banking customers to say the move was a ‘precautionary decision’ but advised people with the software already installed that they did not need to take any action

- Royal Bank of Scotland Group has announced that it will close 259 branches and cut 680 jobs in a move to encourage customers to use online and mobile services. The closures involve 62 Royal Bank of Scotland and 197 NatWest branches
